Silver oxide for portuguese laboratories

Silver(I) oxide is a dark brown-black, light-sensitive powder used as a mild oxidant and base in organic synthesis: Koenigs–Knorr glycosylation, O-alkylation of sensitive substrates, oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids, and the preparation of silver carboxylates and silver N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) transfer agents. It is the cathode material of silver-oxide button cells, a precursor for silver catalysts and conductive silver films, and a yellow colourant for glass and ceramic glazes. Decomposes cleanly to silver and oxygen above about 280 °C. Each lot is assayed for silver and released with a certificate of analysis. Full documentation — GHS classification, safety data sheet, certificate of analysis by lot — is on the Silver oxide product page.

Used for Organic synthesis, Batteries, Catalysis and Glass & ceramics. As a dangerous good it ships to Portugal by the licensed courier; the surcharge is one per consignment, not per pack.

Ordering is by quotation: send the pack size and quantity, we reply within one working day with price, lead time and shipping to Portugal in EUR. See also everything we ship to Portugal and the shipping and dangerous-goods notes.

Questions and answers

How quickly can Silver oxide be delivered to Portugal?

3 to 4 working days after dispatch from Dublin by licensed ADR/IATA dangerous-goods courier, which can take a day longer than the standard service. Making or packing your lot is usually same week; the lead time is stated on the quotation. Dangerous-goods items ship with UN-specification packaging.

How is VAT charged on Silver oxide delivered to Portugal?

Portuguese businesses that supply a valid PT VAT number, checked live against the EU VIES register, are invoiced with the reverse charge at 0% VAT (intra-community supply, Article 138 of the VAT Directive). Without a valid VAT number, Irish VAT at 23% is added.

How much does Silver oxide cost in Portugal?

Every order is quoted individually in EUR excluding VAT: the price follows the silver spot price at the time of quoting and the pack sizes you choose. The quotation is numbered, holds the metal price for 7 days, and states shipping to Portugal and any dangerous-goods surcharge.

Which pack sizes of Silver oxide are available?

25 g, 100 g, 500 g as standard. Other quantities and custom packs are quoted on request — tell us the pack size and total quantity you need in the quote form.

Is Silver oxide a dangerous good?

Yes: Silver oxide carries UN UN1479, Class 5.1 and ships by licensed dangerous-goods courier with a per-consignment handling surcharge. The safety data sheet on the product page lists the full GHS classification.

Who in Portugal can order Silver oxide?

Business, research, analytical and industrial customers only: universities, research institutes, analytical and QC laboratories, catalyst and plating companies and manufacturers, in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra and Braga and everywhere else in Portugal. We do not sell to private individuals.

What is Silver oxide called in Spanish?

Óxido de plata(I) (Spanish). The English name and the CAS number 20667-12-3 identify it unambiguously on the quotation and the certificate of analysis.
